Ian M first encountered Back to Basics program in Calgary, where he and 3 fellow AA’s, Frank A,  Adam R,  David M held the first B2B group in a downtown church basement early 2009.

After two very successful 4 week sessions, Ian contacted the author Wally P and drove to  meet him in Tucson Az.   Wally warmly welcomed the traveller and gave him a personal tour of the  “Back to Basics World Headquarters”.   Both Ian and Wally immediately became comrades in arms on the same mission ” its about saving lives”.  Over several years Wally came to Calgary for 12 days in the spring  to facilitate the ” How to Listen to God Seminars” at The Mount St. Francis retreat centre in Cochrane AB.

The week between the seminars Wally spoke at several local groups, went on a sojourn where Ian flew him through the Alberta and British Columbia mountains at 7 to 9 thousand feet.  A wonderful memory that both cherish to this day and often reminisce about.  In 2010 Ian participated in the producing of a DVD featuring Wally going through the twelve steps at Arizona Public Television in Tucson. Over the next several years Ian travelled extensively both by car and airplane seeding B2B groups. Wally remarked one time that i knew where Ian had been because an order for a case of the Back to Basics would come in “out of the blue”.

A snowbird in Mexico, Ian started doing B2B meetings in Puerto Vallarta Mexico at the Alano Club throughout the winter season.  Charles and Ian met here at this AA room and have become fast friends facilitating these meetings over the years. Margery K joined in at this time having met in Calgary we have become great friends.
